Queen Street Storewatch Launches

News story
Friday 5 Jul 2013

StoreWatch is a community prevention first strategy towards reducing the effects of theft from retail stores on Queen St, Auckland. The StoreWatch initiative will allow stores to pass information easily between each other either by email or text.

A network has been set-up that currently includes 75 Queen St retailers located between Wellesley St and Customs St, enabling them to communicate via email or text alert when someone steals something from a store (whether they are apprehended or not). The Security prevention scheme will ultimately give stores an early warning on who to look out for before they have entered.

Heart of the City supports this important CBD community initiative by providing a hub for distribution of text warning messages. If you wish to be added to Queen St StoreWatch email or text alert, please contact Constable Rachel Cameron on rcx131@police.govt.nz or 021 191 2729.
