The Farmer's Santa Parade returns on November 30

The Farmers Santa Parade has brought joy, laughter and goodies to the people of Auckland for 80 years and this year is no exception with the parade scheduled for November 30.

The 2014 Farmers Santa Parade will feature all the wonderful pageantry, fun and surprises that have made this annual Auckland City extravaganza a perennial favourite. Heralding the start of the Festive Season, this beloved holiday parade features colourful and grand floats, stunning costumes, lively marching bands, amazing character balloons, plus an appearance by Santa Claus!

The 2.2 km Parade Route starts at the corner of Cook Street and Mayoral Drive, turns left in to Queen Street, travels down Queen Street and turns left again in to Customs Street West then up Albert Street, ending at Albert and Wellesley Streets.

The rain date for this event is December 7. 

Parade Road Closures 

As preparations are under-way for the annual Farmers Santa Parade, we would like to provide you with an event summary and notification of road closures on the day as well as provide you with a summary on how to get about whilst this event is on. 

The Farmers Santa Parade attracts a huge crowd, which delights adults and children alike.  Provisions have been put in place to ensure that we minimise disruption to residents and businesses in the central city, and we thank you in advance for your support of the Farmers Santa Parade which heralds the start of the festive season in Auckland.

Parade participants will assemble on Mayoral Drive and Wellesley Street (between Albert & Hobson Streets) and in Vincent Street from 8.00am. The Parade will proceed down Mayoral Drive, into Queen Street, left into Customs Street West and up Albert Street, ending at the corner of Albert and Wellesley Streets.

The following road closures will be put in place: 

Vincent Street (between Mayoral Drive and Pitt Street) 7.00am – 4.00pm Wellesley Street West (between Hobson Street and Albert Street) 7.00am – 5.00pm
Mayoral Drive (between Wellesley Street West and Cook Street) 7.00am – 6.00pm
Mayoral Drive (between Cook Street and Queen Street) 12.00pm - 4.00pm
Queen Street (between Karangahape Road and Customs Street) 12.00pm - 4.00pm
Customs Street West (between Queen Street and Albert Street) 12.00pm - 5.00pm
Albert Street (between Customs St West and Wellesley St West)   12.00pm - 5.00pm

Non-Parade Route - Affected Roads Midday to 5.00pm:

Queen Street (between Karangahape Road and Mayoral Drive), Scotia Place, Darby Street, Shortland Street (between High Street and Queen Street), Fort Street (between Gore Street and Queen St), Lower Queen Street, Customs Street West (between Anzac Ave and Lower Hobson Street), Lower Albert Street, Wolfe Street (between Federal Street and Albert Street), Swanson Street (between Federal Street and Albert Street), Wyndham Street (between Federal Street and Albert Street), Elliot Street, Victoria Street (between Federal Street and High Street), Wellesley Street (between Hobson Street and Lorne Street), Mayoral Drive (between Cook Street and Wakefield Street), Wakefield Street (between Mayoral Drive and Queen Street), Wolfe Street (between Federal Street to Albert Street ), Cook Street (between Hobson Street to Vincent Street) Kingston Street (between Federal Street and Albert Street), Shortland Street (between  Queen Street and High Street), Rutland Street, Sturdee Street (between Lower Hobson Street and Customs Street) and Greys Avenue.

This closure will apply to all except authorised and emergency vehicles.

Farmers Santa Parade After Party will be in Aotea Square post parade.  The After Party will start from 3:00pm and run until 5:30pm.
