who we are
Heart of Auckland City is downtown Auckland's business association. Originally conceived as a representative lobby group for Auckland City businesses, we are now one of a number of business associations across the Auckland Region delivering a Business Improvement District (BID) Programme. We are funded by property owners and commercial tenants within our boundaries.
We have an overall mission to foster a successful CBD economy. We are committed to developing a central city that all Aucklanders are proud of, that is a thriving place to do business, is accessible, vibrant, has lots of great stuff happening, and a great place to be.
We are governed by our Board and our Constitution, which outlines our rules of operation.
Our major work focuses are:
- Business support and development
- Marketing and promotion
- Events and events sponsorship
- Heritage
- City infrastructure services
- Advocacy and research
Key activities that we are involved in:
- Leading and sponsoring a number of events in the CBD to enhance the vibrancy of the CBD experience and drive off-peak visitation.
- Developing and implementing Big Little City - the CBD's strategic destination marketing campaign, in conjunction with Auckland Council and other key partners
- Looking at ways in which retail can be more successful in the CBD
- Initiating and co-funding a range of services to assist local business, and to make the CBD a welcoming, vibrant, and safe place. This includes our our Big Little City Guides & Rides, and the City Watch Security team.
- Advocating and representing CBD businesses on key issues
Strategic Plan
