Why we're doing it - the purpose of Street Guardians

Starting out as a six week pilot in October 2018, Street Guardians was developed in response to city centre businesses wanting to see begging addressed in our city centre.

We wanted to find a positive way to do this, so in partnership with the Auckland City Mission, and with support from local businesses, Colliers International, Scarecrow, SkyCity and Precinct Properties, the Street Guardians pilot was launched. 

We created this programme after engaging with the street community, businesses and social agencies like the Mission and Lifewise. The consensus was clear - providing opportunities for the street community to get involved with the wider community is important and invaluable.
