Britomart is an urban regeneration success story, with refurbished heritage buildings with nautical and commercial history and well-designed modern low and mid-rise developments linked together by a number of well-used public spaces that people enjoy spending time in.

The latest additions to the Britomart neighbourhood include The Hotel Britomart, the the first and only 5 Green Star hotel in New Zealand, and the refurbished heritage Masonic and Buckland buildings that face onto Customs Street and back onto the hotel. A new laneway was created between Galway and Customs Streets through the old and new buildings.

There are further plans for continued regeneration of the area, with new architecturally designed, sustainable developments adding fresh life to the precinct.
