Monday 1 Aug 2022

There are some fantastic community initiatives across the city centre working to champion composting and sustainability, including:

Federal Street Compost Hub
Hospitality businesses in the city centre can reduce their organic waste while supporting sustainability efforts by dropping it at 187 Federal St at no charge. It's open Wednesdays between midday and 2 pm. Full details are available here.

Daldy Street Community Garden
A For the Love of Bees initiative, Wynyard Quarter businesses and residents can pick fresh herbs, learn about sustainable and regenerative farming and support local charities. Find out more information here.

Viaduct Harbour Compost
In 2019, For the Love of Bees launched Viaduct Harbour Compost with the support of Viaduct Harbour and Auckland Council.  Businesses and residents local to the area can contribute their organic waste which is then transformed into compost. This is then used to support the waterfront pasture paintings, teaching beds and urban farm. More information is available here.
