As well as proposed general rates increases, included are options for the reinstatement of the Accommodation Provider Targeted Rate, paused last year to due to COVID, as well as the proposed extension of the City Centre Targeted Rate (CCTR) until 2031. The CCTR funds public transformation projects in the city centre and is paid for by city centre commercial property, businesses and resident ratepayers.

Proposals also include funding towards Climate Change initiatives, including procuring only electric or hydrogen buses from July this year. We consider this to be an important proposal to improve air quality in the city centre an issues which has been widely communicated.
