Transforming the Fort Street Area
The upgrade of six key streets in the Fort Street area is set to transform it into a lively, people focused destination that reflects its rich cultural and geographic history. The design proposes areas of shared space, interesting design features, new artworks, seating, vegetation, lighting and stone paving which will work together to create an attractive, interesting place people want to spend time in. Consultation on the draft design begins on Wednesday, 2 September. Tell us what you think by 5pm on Tuesday, 22 September 2009 and go into the draw to win a $100 Heart of the City shopping voucher to be used in Auckland's CBD. The upgrade is funded by the CBD targeted rate and is part of the 10-year streetscapes and upgrade programme to create a great city.
