City Centre Safety Hubs

Safety Hubs are in place to provide additional safety support at key locations across the city centre. These have come about following a pop-up trial during FIFA Women’s World Cup that we partnered with Community Patrols NZ on.

They are places people can go to if they need support. It could be a simple need such as charging a phone, help connecting with emergency services, or some guidance around getting home.

Community Patrols NZ volunteers and Watene Māori O Akarana wardens operate from the hubs and are supported by the Police.

Queen’s Wharf Safety Hub Operating Days/Hours

Friday: 6pm to 10pm
Saturday: 10am to 2pm; 6pm to 12pm (midnight)
Sunday: 10am to 2pm

Additional hubs on Queen Street, High Street and Karangahape Road are expected to be established by the end of October 2023.
