Christmas in the city centre
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas in the city centre. Have you spotted our Christmas campaign on billboards, adshels, buses and digital? It's also running across radio advertising and this year, we're targeting both local audiences and some regional destinations (such as Wellington). The executions highlight some of the more unique reasons to visit, with a sense of humour. It's backed up with gift guides and promotion of our retail and hospitality offering.
There's 22 days of celebrations across the city centre, and 20+ festive music, art, decorations and lighting filling public spaces
Te Manaaki - a magical new Christmas Tree - can be found in Te Komititanga, lower Queen Street. The tree is a gift for the city through a partnership between us and Precinct Properties, with support from Auckland Council via the city centre targeted rate. It's been wonderful to see so many happy faces throughout the extensive media coverage of Te Manaaki. Its 5-minute light show will run every 10 minutes, every evening until 4 January 2025 between 5pm - 10pm.
This year, the much-loved Pav and Light Forest is hosted in Aotea Square.
Also, there will be pop-up performers on Queen Street every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday in December. A complete guide to the city centre activation trail is available here. There's lots more ways to celebrate this festive season, including Smith & Caughey's Christmas Windows, Commercial Bay's Magic Mail Machine, and meeting Santa at SkyCity to name a few.
