Wynyard Quarter Office Shout a success

News story
Friday 20 May 2022

More than 2000 people from 12 Wynyard Quarter corporates headed out on Thursday 19 May to reconnect with their workmates at a number of hospitality venues in the Wynyard Quarter area. 'The Great Wynyard Quarter Office Shout' was another successful initiative welcoming workers back into the city centre.

Teams were able to reconnect and form new connections with each other and their 'work locals.' There was a pre-COVID buzz in the air that delighted participating venues and workers alike.

One venue commented that "it was nice to see locals out socialising as they did before COVID - 19."

While the overall mood amongst workers was that they were thrilled to be back in "buzzy" bars again. "I've missed them - and seeing happy people reconnecting with their colleagues and old friends," said one.

Teams were able to move between venues, with queues forming to enter each of them. The buoyant, neighbourly atmosphere offered a fantastic opportunity to form new connections amongst themselves and across organisations.

Caroline Saufoi, Business Support Manager for Genesis said:

"Thursday evening provided a drink with a colleague and an opportunity to network with folks from your office and those from other organisations. Supporting our local bars, there was a hum, energy and excitement that made you feel alive and free, or, at least that’s how I felt, like a deep exhale that makes you feel part of something good. That goodness is connecting and connection. It was fantastic to meet new people from the ‘hood’ and speak to the bar staff about the success of the evening, seeing and connecting with people was a highlight."

It was a wonderful initiative and was great to see the involvement of:

Air New Zealand, ASB, Bayleys, Centuria, Datacom, Genesis, Kiwibank
KPMG, Microsoft, Southern Cross, TradeMe, WSP
