There's so much happening in Auckland city this weekend (26-28 February), with a fantastic array of council hosted, sponsored or supported events - most of them free.
The Auckland Lantern Festival brings Chinese New Year celebrations to a glowing finale with hundreds of beautiful lanterns, as well as performers, crafts, fortune-telling, fireworks and martial arts displays. Held in the CBD's Albert Park, 5pm to 10.30pm daily from Friday, 26 February until Sunday, 28 February, don't miss one of Auckland's most popular summer events.
Find a vantage point and watch for free as amateur sailors compete over three days (26-28 February) at the BMW Auckland Regatta, one of the premier sailing events on New Zealand's racing calendar.
Mission Bay will transform into a festival of fun, dining and dancing as the Mission Bay Jazz & Blues Streetfest celebrates its 10th anniversary on Saturday, 27 February from 6pm to 11pm. For only $10 entry (free for kids five years old and under), you can enjoy the music and atmosphere with over 20 Kiwi bands and international acts performing on the street, beach and stages.
One of Auckland city's best-loved, free family days out, the Onetangi Beach Races on Waiheke has fun for all ages, 10am to 5pm on Sunday, 28 February.
